Abbotswood Potentilla
Potentilla fruticosa 'Abbotswood'

This drought tolerant plant is cold hardy, and it works great in mixed borders. It blooms profuse, white flowers from spring to fall. This shrub often attracts both butterflies and hummingbirds.
Adam's Needle
Yucca filamentosa

This dramatic accent plant tolerates hot and dry areas. In the summer, it blooms tall, white flower stalks.
African Iris
Moraea iridioides (Dietes vegeta)

This plant looks great near water features. It blooms wide, white, waxy flowers from spring to summer, and it has handsome iris-like foliage.
Ageratum (Flossflower)
Ageratum houstonianum

Dwarf plants make great borders. Promote continual blooms with occasional sheering.
Alleghany Viburnum
Viburnum x rhytidophylloides 'Alleghany'

This excellent border shrub features yellowish-white flowers in the spring. In early autumn, persistent bright red fruit adorn the plant and turn black later in the season.
Aloe Vera
A.barbadensis A.perfoliata vera

This plant has been used for treating burns and skin problems for centuries. Blooming in March and April it is good for attracting Hummingbirds.
Amaryllis
Hippeastrum sp.

This plant adds good seasonal color as it blooms from winter to spring. It also features bold, strap like leaves with large trumpet shaped blooms.
American Bittersweet (Bittersweet Vine)
Celastrus scandens

This woody and shrubby climber grows over trees, fences, trellises, arbors, and porches. Its berries and twisted vines are often used to make interesting projects. Its berries attract birds, but they will make humans sick.
American Boxwood
Buxus Sempervirens

Dark green foliage. Excellent topiary. May be used as hedge. Adaptable, easy to grow.
Amur Privet
Ligustrum amurense

This excellent hedge plant has low maintenance requirements. It blooms fragrant, creamy-white flower clusters in the summer.
